Using Backward Design for School Improvement Planning

Time Frame: (1-2 hours)

Understanding by Design (UbD) offers a framework to align standards, assessments, and instructional practices. In addition, the concepts and tools embedded in UbD can assist schools in developing a powerful, "results-oriented" school improvement plan. This session will examine how the three stages of backward design can focus the use of assessment data to determine effective actions to increase achievement.

Target Audience: School-based administrators, department chairs, team leaders, school improvement team members, district level staff.
