Working Smarter in Curriculum Design: Using the UbD Exchange Website
Time Frame: (1-3 hours)
The Understanding by Design Exchange web site (ubdexchange.org) enables teachers and curriculum designers to work smarter by sharing ideas. The site features electronic design templates based on backward design and a searchable database of more than 6,000 curriculum units and assessment tasks created in the UbD format. Tutorials and numerous "hot links" to related web sites support designers as they work on the Exchange. The site also includes an electronic peer review section based on the UbD Design Standards. Designers can request on-line expert reviews of their unit designs (based on the UbD Design Standards).
In this workshop, the key features of the site will be demonstrated, and subscription information provided.
Note: The availability of a computer lab or wireless network will enable "hands on" experience with the Exchange.
Target Audience: Teachers, curriculum developers and administrators at all levels.
